Came across a brief article on Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote the Little House books. Her daughter Rose Wilder Lane strikes me as far more interesting. It seems that she was the instigator and editor of her mother's stories put into the famous book series, and may well have written some or much of it. She started out a communist but after spending time in the Soviet Union, talking with people, and keenly observing, she changed her mind. Advocating for freedom, she wrote the books, Give Me Liberty and The Discovery of Freedom. She was among what some people today call the "Old Right," advocates for free-market liberty and opponents of FDR's Soviet-inspired socialist programs. She and the others of her time were not the conservatives of today, all too many of whom promote the warfare part of the welfare-warfare state.
